Topics include the relation between theory and observation, problems of research design and fundamental techniques of ethnographic research, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Precludes additional credit for ANTH 2003. Prerequisite(s): ANTH 1001 or ANTH 1002, or ANTH 1003 [1.0], or 1.0 credit at the 1000-level in SOCI, AFRI, ENGL, GEOG, HIST, HUMR, INDG, JOUR, PSCI, RELI or WGST .Lectures three hours a week.
