Ethnographic survey of Mexico and Guatemala that focuses on a variety of rural and urban communities throughout the area with particular emphasis on indigenous groups. Topics covered may include nationalism, ethnicity, social organization, gender, cosmology and material culture. Prerequisite(s): ANTH 1001 or ANTH 1002 or ANTH 1003 [1.0], or 1.0 credit at the 1000-level in SOCI, AFRI, ENGL, GEOG, HIST, HUMR, INDG, JOUR, PSCI, RELI or WGST.Lectures and discussion three hours a week.
