Interdisciplinary introduction to the history of encounters and changing relationships between Indigenous peoples and European newcomers. Topics include treaties, Métis history, Inuit and Northern issues, Indian status, residential schools, colonial policy and constitutional participation. This course provides the necessary background to understand contemporary Indigenous issues. Precludes additional credit for CDNS 2010.
