Examination of contemporary Asia through anthropological research. Topics may include cultural practices, religion, health issues, economics, politics, history, colonialism and social change. Emphasis will vary by sub-region from year to year, e.g., focusing on South, East or Southeast Asia. Prerequisite(s): ANTH 1001 or ANTH 1002 or ANTH 1003 [1.0], or 1.0 credit at the 1000-level in SOCI, AFRI, ENGL, GEOG, HIST, HUMR, INDG, JOUR, PSCI, RELI or WGST.Lectures and discussion three hours a week.
