International development and its socio-cultural practices with consequences at local, national and international levels. Topics may include modernization, dependency, globalization, and development as discourse, political ecology, gender, indigenous knowledge, social movements, and non-governmental organizations. Prerequisite(s): ANTH 1001 or ANTH 1002 or ANTH 1003 [1.0], or 1.0 credit at the 1000-level in SOCI, AFRI, ENGL, GEOG, HIST, HUMR, INDG, JOUR, PSCI, RELI or WGST.Lectures and workshop three hours a week.
